Welcome, Rob White!

In April, Rob White joined the CALS team and will serve Global Programs and CSRL as a Budget and Finance Specialist.

White earned his Ph.D. from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Prior to that, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Russian, a Bachelor of Accountancy, and a Master of Accountancy degrees from the University of Oklahoma.

For ten years, Dr. White was a faculty within Iowa State University’s Ivy College of Business. While there, his research interests focused on corporate governance across a variety of settings, including entrepreneurial, international, and troubled firms. His work appeared in the Journal of Management, the Journal of Management Studies, The Oxford Handbook of Corporate Governance, and other research and media outlets.

Meet our new CALS Study Abroad Advisor!

Marta Grant joined the CALS Study Abroad office in October as a Study Abroad Advisor. Marta is a familiar face to the office as she is a recent graduate from Iowa State University where she received her BS in Agricultural Business, Spanish, and International Agriculture and studied abroad for a semester at the Universidad de Extremadura in Cáceres, Spain, through an Iowa State exchange program. Her current role is to recruit and advise students on opportunities to study abroad as well as work with our student travel consultants to promote global programs.

Outside of work, Marta enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and cheering on the Cyclones!

Notice of Funding Opportunity - FY 2022 Scientific Cooperation Research Program

The Scientific Cooperation Research Program (SCRP) supports joint research, extension, and education projects – lasting up to two years – between U.S. researchers and researchers from selected emerging market economies. The projects address issues including but not limited to agricultural trade and market access, animal and plant health, biotechnology, food safety and security, and sustainable natural resource management. Since 1980, the program has supported hundreds of projects, enhancing the technical skills of agricultural professionals and helping beneficiary countries be more competitive consumers of U.S. agricultural products.

Anticipating Spring Study Abroad Programs

U.S. Passport Book Fees Increase

Effective December 27, 2021, the fees for a U.S. passport book increased $20, per an announcement from the Department of State. The change applies to first-time passport book applications and renewals; it does not impact the price of passport cards. A detailed breakdown of the new charges is available on the State Department's website.

Delay for New or Renewal Passports Significant

Due to a wide range of circumstances, the average wait time for getting a new passport or renewing an expiring passport is very long.

According to the Department of State, the agency that issues passports, the standard wait time for a new passport today is 18 weeks. Anyone in need of these services hoping to travel yet this fall or next spring should be taking action now and should absolutely select the expedited option if you can (standard wait time for ‘expedited’ is 12 weeks).

Routine:  Save $60. Door-to-door service in 18 weeks (includes up to 12 weeks processing and 6 weeks mailing on front and back end)
