Travel Grants (due in Dean's office on September 14, 2007,
January 4, 2008, March 14, 2008)
To support international travel costs for faculty who have been
invited to speak, lecture, comment, etc. Due three times per year
(September, January, and March). Contact the Dean of the College
of Agriculture and Life Science office, 138 Curtiss Hall, 515-294-2518,
for more information.
In addition to meeting University requirements for eligibility,
FTG applications submitted to the CALS will be ranked based on
the following criteria:
- Letter of support from the Department Chair (10 points)
Greater weight is given to letters indicating benefits of
the foreign travel relative to the applicant’s position
responsibilities and to the department.
- Justification for the proposed travel (10 points)
Greater weight is given to applicants invited to present a
symposium paper, organize a scientific meeting, or conduct
research at an international institute.
- Benefits of the FTG to applicatn's research, teaching, or
extension activities (15 points)
Greater weight is given to applicants providing a clear indication
how the FTG benefits their career development and responsibilities
in research, teaching, or extension.
- Benefits from previous FTG, if application (5 points)
First application for a FTG = 5 points, Applications with
prior FTGs = 0 - 5 point
- For similarly ranked applications, preference will be given
to junior faculty seeking to establish new collaboration
