2006-07 U.S. Fulbright Scholar Awards
The 2006-07 application process for U.S. Fulbright scholar awards for faculty and professionals has begun. This year, three combined lecturing/research awards, Agricultural Biotechnology/Ocean Ecology in Mauritius, Landscape Management in Kenya and Agriculture in Zimbabwe, offer exciting opportunities for developing curriculum, advising students, and training students and faculty in research methods, while lecturing and conducting research on specialized agricultural areas of interest. In addition to awards in specific disciplines, awards open in all disciplines, are available in over 20 countries. Research awards are also available.
For complete awards and application information, please visit www.cies.org. Complete application materials are due at CIES by August 1, 2005. Please note that U.S. citizenship and a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree are required.

USDA Foreign Agricultural Service Internship Opportunities
The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service's International Internship Program has a PAID internship program and is in need of applicants. As of this week, the program has only received 3 applications nationwide. Due to this low number of applications, the deadline has been extended to March 15.

The Foreign Agricultural Service's International Internship Program provides college students the opportunity to live and work in a paid internship at an American embassy overseas. Through work assignments, participants learn various aspects of international trade, trade policy, international relations, diplomacy, regional and cultural considerations, etc. Positions are available in Western Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The internship is offered every semester and summer for graduate students and upperclassmen (juniors and seniors). Applicants must be a currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate student (must be a junior or a senior), a U.S. citizen and in good academic standing.

Graduate level students in business, international relations, regional studies (i.e., Latin American Studies, Asian Studies, etc.), public policy, foreign languages, etc., as well as high-achieving junior and senior undergraduates in similar majors, are particularly encouraged to apply, though the program is open to all majors. Financial assistance for transportation to the job site is possible.

Please see the application at www.fas.usda.gov/admin/student/IIP_Brochure.pdf
