FAS Seeking University Expertise on Biosecurity/Biosafety
for Project in Thailand
USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service is seeking
university faculty to assist in developing a biosecurity and biosafety
training program in collaboration with the National Institute of Animal
Health in Thailand. Interested universities should contact Peter Benson,
Program Manager (Peter.Benson@usda.gov
or 202-690-1943) or Andrew White, Management Specialist (Andrew.White@usda.gov
or 202-690-4872) to obtain the Scope of Work for this project. Expressions
of interest are due in at FAS by April 16, 2008.
Borlaug Fellows at ISU
Three Borlaug Fellow are currently spending time with
faculty mentors in the CALS at ISU. Bhawana Mishra from India is working
with Lester Wilson in FSHN, Rabha Abdelwahd from Morocco is working
with Kan Wang in Agronomy and Vjekoslav Tanaskovik from Macedonia is
being mentored by Ramesh Kanwar in ABE. For more information regarding

Paid International Internships with the USDA
Foreign Ag Service
USDA-FAS is looking for outstanding senior and graduate level college
and university students to work in our OVERSEAS offices to promote U.S.
agricultural interests through the International Agricultural Internship
Program (IAIP) for Spring and Summer, 2009. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural
Service, one of the 4 U.S. government foreign service agencies, places
about 10 students each semester (spring, summer and fall) with excellent
analysis, marketing, writing, language and organizational skills and
experience to work on international agricultural trade policy issues,
commodity and market analysis and organizing trade events in our overseas
offices for a 10-16 week PAID INTERNSHIP. U.S. citizen students who
are majoring in a business or science related agricultural field, i.e.
Ag Econ, Econ, Finance, Business or Marketing, International Studies
or Relations, Law or in a Biotechnology Program are eligible. Online
registration for Spring 2009 semester closes on July
1, 2008, and Summer 2009 application deadline
is November 15, 2008. Contact
