World Food Prize
The annual World Food Prize International Symposium will be held October 12-14, 2005, in Des Moines, Iowa. This year's symposium, "The Dual Global Challenges of Malnutrition and Obesity," will feature presentations by experts from around the globe. Leading research scientists and medical professionals will participate, as well as those at the forefront of setting the policy agenda on nutritional requirements. The symposium coincides with the awarding of the $250,000 World Food Prize to Dr. Modadugu Gupta.

ISU Faculty, staff and students may attend at a reduced registration cost of $100. Contact the World Food Prize to obtain a copy of the required special registration form.

2005 Borlaug Lecture

22nd Annual World Food Day
The 22nd Annual World Food Day teleconference is scheduled for October 14, 2005, from noon to 3:00 p.m., Eastern Time. The Board of International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) Open Forum
In conjunction with the World Food Prize Symposium, BIFAD will hold an open forum on "Agriculture and Nutrition: Roles and Links to Countering HIV/AIDS" at the Marriott Hotel, Iowa Ballroom (2nd Floor), 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. There is no charge and the forum is open to the public. NSF Announces EAPSI Graduate Research Summer Institutes
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced it is seeking applicants for its East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI) in the following areas:
