Global Programs Welcomes New Study Abroad Staff

The CALS Study Abroad office is pleased to introduce Visha Arumugam as the newest member of the Global Programs team.  Visha will join the CALS Study Abroad staff in the development and management of international opportunities for CALS students through support to faculty-led travel courses, evaluation and assessment of study abroad programs, scholarship administration and support to international students coming to CALS.  Visha has degrees in Dietetics and Biochemistry, Food Science and Human Nutrition from Avinashilingam College and her Masters in Nutrition Science from State University of New York at Buffalo.  She brings extensive experience as a research associate in the Nutrition and Wellness Research Center at ISU, significant capabilities in international travel and years of experience working with international students.  Please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself and welcome Visha in 18 Curtiss Hall.  Please contact Shelley Taylor with questions.

Student Intern from Austria to Work With ISU Local Foods Team

Barbara Haar, undergraduate student from Graz University of Applied Sciences in Austria, will work with the Local Foods Team at ISU contributing to Farm to School programing in Iowa. Ms. Haar will explore food system development, farm to school local foods knowledge and implementing local food systems in Iowa as part of her internship. She will be in Iowa from February to April and will work with Craig Chase and Alice Topaloff.

Globally Ready Graduates

24% of the fall 2014 and spring 2015 CALS graduates participated in international opportunities while at ISU.  Students in this group participated in a wide variety of credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing activities including participation in travel courses, semester or year-long exchanges, internships, club activities, student teaching, judging competitions, research, and independent study.  For more information on CALS Study Abroad programs please contact Shelley Taylor
