Food Security/Climate Change Conference

"Food Security and Climate Change: The Response of Agricultural Higher Education Institutions to the Challenge" is the focus of the GCHERA, AMEAS (Mexico), APLU (USA), ACFAVM (Canada) and ICA (Europe) sponsored conference to be held November 18-21, 2014, in Chihuahua, Mexico. Upcoming Seminar

Dr. Ruben Echeverria, Director General of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) will present a seminar "ISU and CIAT, a potential great partnership for global security" from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, Room 191, Seed Science Center. Dr. Echeverria will discuss strategies to promote a stronger agricultural research for development collaboration between ISU and the CGIAR Consortium, particularly CIAT.

Biosafety Workshop

A group of 9 research scholars from Ghana are completing a 4-week Biosafety Workshop coordinated by Susana Goggi in the Seed Science Center. This program is part of an agreement between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) to provide support for the USAID Feed the Future Ghana Agriculture Technology Transfer Project.  ISU-CALS is a subcontractor to IFDC on the project. 
 

Fulbright Scholar Program

The deadline for Fulbright Core applications for Academic Year 2015-16 is August 1. This year’s competition includes 584 awards.  Of these,  419 are All Discipline awards and are open to applicants from virtually any discipline - from Computer Science to Art.  Scholars and professionals from post-docs to emeriti are able to apply for programs all over the globe. CALS Study Abroad Hosts South Korean Delegation

CALS Study Abroad is currently hosting 20 students and 2 professors from Yeungnam University in South Korea. During their 2-week stay in Iowa, the group will participate in educational and cultural activities in various agricultural-related disciplines. The group's visit is a result of a long-standing exchange agreement between ISU and Yeungnam. CALS has hosted a group every other summer since 2003.
