Feeding the World Seminar Series Begins September 19
The international seminar series, “Feeding the World: Are We Making Progress?” will begin September 19 at 12 p.m. in the Ensminger Room, 1204 Kildee Hall. The first seminar will feature Dr. Terry Wollen, DVM, Global Health Fellows Program/Public Health Institute Livestock and Animal Health Advisor, Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA, USAID). His seminar topic is “Livestock:  Where Do They Fit In Feeding Those Who Are Hungry?” The seminar series is sponsored by the M.E. Ensminger International Chair in Animal Science, Raymond and Mary Baker Chair in Global Agriculture, and the Center for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods. Global Programs, NREM Staff Visit Thailand
Global Programs staff, Difei Shen and Jodi Cornell, and NREM faculty member, Dr. Julie Blanchong, visited Kasetsart University and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in Thailand from August 12-18.  If anyone is interested in collaborating with either of these universities, please contact Difei Shen

CALS Students Participate in Semester Exchange in Germany
Shane Bugeja, a senior in Agronomy, and Katherine Goldsmith, a junior in Animal Science, will spend the Fall 2012 semester studying at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany. 

International Interns in CALS
Global Programs will assist in hosting 3 international interns for the Fall 2012 semester. Ronayod Polsen from Thailand will work with Dr. Shuizhang Fei (Horticulture) for fall semester. Rosemary Bulyaba and Solomon Seruwo, both from Uganda, will work with Dr. Mike Retallick (Ag Ed & Studies) and Dr. Maria Salas-Fernandez (Agronomy), respectively, for September and October.
