Global engagement is a pervasive theme in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. It is an essential component of our research, teaching, and outreach programs. As we strive for the highest quality programs, globalization is one of the key pathways to becoming the best.
Global Programs implements its five strategic goals by assisting students, faculty, staff, citizens of Iowa and our international partners in the following areas:
Iowa State University formally began its international development and outreach activities in 1945 with the founding of the Iowa State College Tropical Research Center in Guatemala. In 1961, an office responsible for overseeing international activities was opened, but it was not until July of 1973 that the Global Programs office was officially established in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
